Comparison of Military Installation and Community Planning

The military installation equivalent of the comprehensive plan is called an Installation Development Plan (IDP), also referred to as a Master Plan. The IDP is the road map for achieving the installation's mission and vision over the next 20 years. It is updated as needed to address factors that may impact or change the installations mission and vision. As illustrated below, major themes between an IDP and comprehensive plan are consistent, with a few limited exceptions. Learn more about IDPs in About Military Planning.
