The Maryland Military Department is home of the Maryland Air National Guard, the Maryland Army National Guard, and the Maryland
Defense Force. The department also works to build and maintain armories and other facilities that are used by the Army
National Guard and the Air National Guard. It also facilitates state forms, record keeping, and other paperwork required
for militia use in the state.
Members of the National Guard help support communities all throughout the state and around the world. The National Guard
responds to local emergencies, assisting communities endangered by storms, floods, fires, and other disasters, pandemics,
and civil disturbances. The National Guard is a community-based organization, hosting many outreach and service opportunities
to engage with members of the community.
