The Maryland Department of Information Technology (DoIT) creates and implements information technology solutions that improve IT infrastructure, government services, and allow the Executive Branch and state agencies to operate efficiently. While DoIT currently does not have specific programs that support civilian-military compatible use, the agency was identified as playing a key supporting role in implementing the recommendations of the 2019 Statewide Joint Land Use Response Implementation Strategy to support community and military compatibility; particularly those associated with electronic frequency spectrum capacity and impedance/interference. An example of this can be found in DoIT's Statewide Radio System (also known as the Statewide Interoperable Communications division). This division supports interoperable communications amongst state agencies, bordering states, and federal public safety agencies. The Division also advises on planning, acquisition, and operation of statewide radio systems. These radio systems and services provided are essential to statewide emergency preparedness and disaster recovery.
